Mini has launched two new concepts at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and has dubbed the Coupe and Roadster Concepts "The Oxford Twins"
Having revealed the Coupe Concept a few weeks ago, Mini has now revealed a drop-top version called the Roadster Concept, and has confirmed that both cars will be headed for production. Both cars boast compact proportions, measuring 3710mm long, 1680mm wide and 1360mm high each.
Both cars are expected to be powered by the John Cooper Works twin-turbocharged 1.6-litre engine that produces 211bhp and 260Nm of torque, with Mini claiming that the torque can be boosted up to 280Nm. The cars are made from "lightweight construction", but Mini has declined to reveal the weight of the cars as yet.
Inside, the cars boast a white and black colour combination, although the patterned seat inserts is expected to make way for solid colours. Chrome roll-bars on the roadster go along with the optional chrome line exterior trim. The roadster also boasts a boot capacity of 250 litres, which is more than the likes of the Mazda MX-5 and Honda S2000.
Both the Coupe and Roadster Concept will be shown at the Mini stand at the Frankfurt Motor Show, along with several other vehicles from Mini’s 50 year history. |
